Opposition Alliance 'India' Accuses Election Commission of Voter Manipulation in Bihar

Allegations of Voter Registration Irregularities

On Tuesday, the opposition coalition known as 'India' claimed that the Election Commission has registered over 5,000 residents from Uttar Pradesh as voters in a neighboring district of Bihar, allegedly to benefit the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming assembly elections.

During a press conference held in Madhubani district's Fulparash, Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Kumar Jha made these accusations.

They pointed to the inclusion of a 45-year-old individual in the voter list, asserting that many of these questionable voters are registered in the Valmiki Nagar assembly constituency of West Champaran district.

The individual in question is listed as a voter in the voter list, but he actually belongs to the Khadda assembly constituency in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh. However, the West Champaran district administration has dismissed these claims in a statement shared by the Chief Electoral Officer's office.

The statement clarified that the list in question is a draft voter list published by the Election Commission on August 1, and not the final voter list. The purpose of the draft list is to invite claims and objections regarding duplications or other discrepancies.

Furthermore, the administration noted that the figure of over 5,000 dubious voters mentioned during the press conference was presented without any supporting details or evidence, suggesting it is a fabricated number that cannot be substantiated.
